FRIENDS of Bishops Wood are inviting people to enjoy the sights and smells of the bluebell woodlands in spring.

The guided walks will set off at 2pm on Sunday, May 8, to enable visitors to see the most beautiful parts of the woodlands. While enjoying the sea of blue flowers, they will learn more of the folk-lore and natural history of bluebell woodlands.

A new innovation is storytellers who will be waiting on the route to tell tales of enchanted woodlands, magical flowers and woodland sprites. After the walk, visitors can enjoy a cup of tea and slice of cake at the building.

The gates will open at 1.15pm for anyone who would like to enjoy a picnic beforehand.

John Rhymer, from the Friends of Bishops Wood, said: “We are expecting a good show of bluebells as usual.

“We are thrilled that this year we will be joined by storytellers from Wyre Forest U3A who will bring the woodlands alive with some wonderful stories for people of all ages.

“This will make a wonderful event for the whole family.”

Bishops Wood Centre is based in Crossway Green, near Stourport. Organisers are requesting donations of £3 per adult and £1 per child for the event.
