A MAN was assaulted in an apparent unprovoked attack as he was walking in Stourport. 

The 43-year-old man received injuries to his eye, leg and stomach in the assault as he walked along Layamon Walk, in Stourport, between midnight and 12.30am, on Sunday, May 8. 

The victim was approached by three men who asked him for change. He handed the cash over to the men, and continued to walk along Layamon Walk. 

The three men then continued to follow him. 

One of the men has then tapped the victim on the shoulder before assaulting him, causing a black eye and bruising to his leg and abdomen.

The victim did not require medical attention.

All three men are described as white and are thought to be in their early twenties. 

Investigating officer, PC Tom Griffin, said: "This was an apparently unprovoked attack. 

"After they assaulted victim, the three men then fled the scene leaving the victim at the roadside. 

"If anybody witnessed this incident please get in touch, you may be able to help with our investigation."
