A KIDDERMINSTER woman held a family fun day to help raise £40,000 to help her travel to Moscow for life-changing stem cell treatment for Multiple Sclerosis.

Janet Voyce, 49, of Stanklyn Lane, and her husband, Mike, kicked off their fundraising efforts with a Family Fun Day on Saturday, August 13, at their farm.

The day included a mini zoo, face painting, a bouncy castle and lots of other stalls, as well as a BBQ.

She said: “It was a really good day – it was a little bit quieter than we had hoped but we had around 160 people attend, which was great.

“It boosted my fundraising account by £886.

“Since then, I have some more donations on my Go Fund Me page – I had one individual donation of £200 which is amazing. I am really delighted and humbled that someone would donate that much.

“Now I am nearly hitting £3,000 on my fundraising target – it is going nicely.

“I now have a date for my treatment which will be September 18, 2017 – it is a long way off.”

Mrs Voyce was diagnosed with MS in 2015 after collapsing at her home. She is now hoping for support to help her raise funds for her to receive pioneering MS treatment, known as Autologous Haematopoietic Stem Cell Therapy (AHSCT) – which is not available to her on the NHS.

She said: “MS has shattered my life and my future in uncertain.

“I have gone from working 14 hours a day, running a small family business, to being virtually housebound and not able to walk more than a few metres.

“It happened so suddenly, but over the course of 12 months my quality of life has dramatically deteriorated. I suffer crippling fatigue, pain, loss of cognitive function and mobility.

“It is a race against time for me to get this treatment, as the disease is only going to get worse.”

Janet has set up a Go Fund Me page, which can be found at gofundme.com/get_me_to_moscow.
