WYRE Forest Leisure Centre has signed up to a scheme that will make sure breast feeding mothers are made to feel welcome at the facility.

The new £11.9million centre, based on Silverwoods Way, has officially become a ‘Worcestershire Welcomes Breastfeeding’ accredited site.

By committing itself to the scheme, the centre is sending out the message that breastfeeding mothers are welcome and staff are positive and supportive of breastfeeding.

They will also ensure a discreet facility will be made available if requested, and if possible while an acceptable standard of cleanliness, warmth and comfortable seating is provided.

Melissa Bettis, Wyre Forest Leisure Centre partnership, marketing & events manager said: “We are delighted to have become a Worcestershire Welcomes Breastfeeding accredited site, we want to make people feel as welcome as possible, it’s a great initiative for us to have in place.”

Anthea Griffiths, Infant feeding co-ordinator from Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust added: “It’s great to see a large community venue like Wyre Forest Leisure Centre signed up to our scheme.

“It would be great to see other organisations within the Wyre Forest getting on board too.”
