A MAINTENANCE manager at a Kidderminster care home will be pack a punch this weekend to help raise money for Cancer Research UK.
James Carter is taking part in a charity boxing match on Sunday (March 19), having only had eight weeks of training.
The challenge is a poignant one for James, who works at Hollyfields Care Home, who decided to raise cash for the cause in memory of a family member who died from the disease.
James said: “I am doing this for my Uncle who passed away with Cancer last year. I wanted to do something in his honour that would make him proud and help raise funds for such a great charity.
“Everyone at Hollyfields Care Home has been really supportive even though a few people have told me I’m crazy to be doing this!”
The challenge is called Ultra White Collar Boxing, which is a unique opportunity for people with no boxing background to experience the world of the sport, in a safe and enjoyable environment.
It’s for people who want to get fit, learn a new sport and raise money for charity.
Tickets for Sunday night’s challenge are still available at the Mecure Hotel, Habberley Road, Bewdley. For more information call 0844 815 9033.
