KIDDERMINSTER has proved to be a lucky town to live in for a father and son who have each scooped £30,000 thanks to their postcode.

Tony and Martin Fisher were surprised by People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson who presented them with their winnings when their postcode DY11 7BZ came up.

But despite living in a lucky address, 27-year-old Martin, who owns web design company Statix IT, revealed he is set to use his winnings to help him move out.

Martin said he convinced his 71-year-old dad to sign up to the game, having started playing himself in December last year.

He said: “It’s brilliant. I’m so glad we signed up.

“A colleague of mine played and when I found out about the charities I would support by playing, I signed up immediately.

“When I told dad about it, he didn’t think we’d both be able to win at the same postcode – but the whole point is winning together.

“He wanted an email address to sign up so I created one for him from my company. We’re both thrilled.”

He added: “My girlfriend, May, and I have been saving for a deposit for our own place so this will really help. I’ll still play with this postcode though.”

Tony added: “My wife Sandra and I have always wanted to take a couple of holidays a year but we’ve never been able to.

“We’re thinking of going somewhere hot over Christmas which is something we haven’t done in the past. We’re thinking of Tenerife.”

Danyl Johnson, People’s Postcode Lottery Ambassador, said, “This is the first time I’ve ever presented a father and son with matching cheques. I hope they both enjoy spending their winnings.”

A minimum of 30 per cent of ticket sales goes to charity and one Kidderminster cause to benefit is Museum of Carpet which was awarded £3,424 for a project to bring the industry workers from the booming 60s together and capture their memories.
