WYRE Forest MP, Dr Richard Taylor, was on hand to cut the ribbon at the district’s new Navy Training Corps Unit.
The ceremony took place last Friday in the grounds of Wolverley Memorial Hall at the former KD4 Scouts building.
Mike Green, Sub Lieutenant of the Navy Training Corps and commanding officer of T.S. Ocean, said: “The unit will teach youngsters aged eight to 18 the ways and means of the Royal Navy.”
He explained this would range from learning how to tie knots to rifle shooting and sailing.
He added that there would also be the opportunity to work towards naval recognised qualifications.
