A working group from Disability Action Wyre Forest visited The Bellway Homes development Keepers Lock in Clensmore Street Kidderminster on Tuesday 3rd March.

On the site visit it was noted that there were new houses with stepped approaches.

The findings from the visit were discussed at the group’s March meeting. It was agreed by the group to write to Bellway Homes, asking them for an explanation regarding access on the development.

In the copy of the Design Access Statement “DAS” supplied with the planning application Wyre Forest 11/0163   it states on Page 32 Site –the topography of the site has a gentle gradient of 35M down to 34M over approximately 170M. This equates to a fall of around 1:170 considered to offer accessibility for all user of the site as there are no steep gradients or steps to negotiate.

Page 33 Dwellings-Each house has been designed to meet the requirements of the building regulations Part M to ensure that the development accommodates the needs of all users including those with disabilities.

Mr Lawley Chairman of Disability Action Wyre Forest said. “The Design Access Statement didn’t match up to our findings!”
