BEER fans will be raising a glass in Cleobury Mortimer for two food and drink events being held on the same day.

The Shropshire town will be holding a food and ale trail and a beer and music festival on Saturday.

The Cleobury Food and Ale trail is a seven and a half-mile walk around the rolling countryside and features a coffee stop at the Rockery, lunch at Cleobury Gold Club and afternoon tea at Neen Savage Hall.

Walkers should meet at the Cleobury Country Centre at 10.15am or 10.45am. There will be free parking at the centre and all walkers will receive a souvenir tankard.

Clare Todd of Cleobury Country said: “The trail is a fantastic event to promote the town, the walk showcases some stunning scenery and appeals to all ages, walkers are given a detailed pack and the route is all on footpaths.”

A free beer and music festival will also be held at the vicarage garden which is part of the Cleobury Fringe festival.

More than 16 real ales including barrels from the town’s brewery Hobsons will be on offer as well as local ciders and a barbecue.

The festival takes place between noon and 11pm and includes live music and children’s entertainment.

Local brewer Hobson is supporting both events, supplying beer for the lunch stop at the Cleobury Golf Club and helping to source a selection of different ales for the beer festival.

Kate Pearce of Hobsons said: “We are proud to be supporting these events taking place in our home town, we’d encourage people to combine the two for a great day out enjoying the scenic walk and refresh yourself at the beer festival afterwards.”
