STAFF and pupils at a Far Forest school are celebrating being rated “good” by Ofsted.

Inspectors visited Far Forest CE Lea Memorial Primary School in July this year and found that “under the determined leadership of the headteacher” there had been “rapid improvements across all areas of the school’s work”.

The report said quality of teaching and pupil achievement in English and mathematics was also good but added: “The school is not yet outstanding because there remain some inconsistencies in teaching and not all leaders are sufficiently involved in monitoring teaching and learning”.

Headteacher, Tara Collins-Bullock, said: “We are delighted the report reflects the hard work and dedication of staff, pupils and families, which makes our school so successful.”

Inspectors also noted pupils’ behaviour was good in school and lessons.

To improve, the school must ensure teaching is outstanding and leadership and management are consistently good.

“These align with our own current improvement targets and the report serves to reassure us that our self-evaluation is both robust and relevant,” added Mrs Collins-Bullock.

Gill Ellis, the school’s chairman of governors, said: “The hard work to implement the improvements since the last inspection has been rewarded and we continue to aim for excellence at Far Forest.“ According to Ofsted a “good” school “is serving its pupils well”.
