Gill Hales and her husband who run the Chelmarsh Owl Sanctuary came to our March meeting. Gill began by telling us how she became interested in birds of prey and owls in particular.
The group were shown slides of their owls and Gill told us how each owl had come to live with them and were amazed to learn that each of them was quite a character. Gill then brought out the stars of the show and some of the owls obliged with their party tricks - one wagged its tail when happy, one ‘barked’ like a dog and another loved to snuggle up to Gill.
