'Thrashing to Tender Loving Care' was the enigmatic title of the talk given by Robert Smallman at the May meeting.
Robert explained that the title was redolent of his experiences at a boarding school in Malvern in the early 1940s, and he described detailed memories of dormitories, food, outings, discipline and the autocratic, eccentric and caring headmaster at that time known as ‘the Beak’.
The next Probus meeting will be held on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 1 at the Chester Road Bowling Club when Mrs Skerratt will give a talk entitled ‘Exchange Teacher USA 1963-64’. It starts at 2pm.
Anyone interested in joining this club for retired professional and business men should contact secretary Steve Proctor on 01562 743949.
