The monthly meeting held on the September 1 saw Derek Walker give an illustrated talk “Tiptoe thru’ the Tulips”. He spoke of the types of tulips, hundreds of them he used in his show beds at his home , some very unusual ones , before the blight affected them, such a pity, also of the hundreds of people who use to come and visit on charity days and the innumerable cups of tea and plates of cakes served on these occasions.

The competition “Autumn Flower Arrangement” was won by Dorothy Hadwell. The birthday raffle was won by Doreen Clemson and Jane Bayley. On the following day 14 members enjoyed lunch at the Bodenham Arboretum to celebrate the 100 years of the WI. The Franche group itself will be celebrating 50 yrs in 2017.
