WYRE Forest residents who have ideas to help tackle climate change are being asked to pitch their plans to a den of green dragons.

Low carbon community group Transition Kidderminster and Wyre Forest District Council have joined forces to find the areas new green entrepreneurs.

The organisations are searching for residents with innovative products, services or business ideas that can help tackle the environmental issue.

This could be something which reduces energy use, helps generate clean power or makes the community more self reliant.

Shortlisted applicants will get the chance to pitch to the green dragons den panel at Kidderminster Town Hall on Saturday, January 24, during the Green Home Show.

Winning entries will go forward to the European stage and become part of the West Midlands EU funded Climate Knowledge and Innovation Community innovation programme.

Keith Budden, of Transition Kidderminster, said: “This is a great opportunity for people with great green business ideas or products to get noticed, access support and gain investment.

“The chance to participate in the European Union’s innovation programme opens up a huge market for local talent with great ideas that can not only help create jobs but also help cut carbon pollution and make our world a better place to live in.”

The show is a free event taking place between 11am and 3pm were a wide variety of energy and money saving products and gadgets will be on show, including systems to control your heating from your phone, electric cars and home energy generation equipment.

District councillor Anne Hingley, cabinet member for health, wellbeing and housing, said: “The Green Home Show is a fantastic opportunity for people to find out how they can save money on their energy bills and add value to their homes.

“It’s free to enter and there will be experts on hand to give advice as well as the latest energy saving gadgets on show.

“If you’re planning a green 2015, it will be a great way to start the new year.”
