VINTAGE cars, riot vans and tractors transported year 11 students to their school proms in Wyre Forest.

Students from Baxter College and Wolverley CE Secondary School rounded their year off in style at West Midland Safari Park’s Spring Grove House.

Teenagers arrived at Baxter College’s prom in vehicles ranging from The Stig’s sports car to a JCB digger to a police riot van complete with a siren and flashing blue lights.

The red carpet-style event saw students arrive for pre-dinner drinks in the marquee before tucking into a three-course meal.

The event was rounded off with dancing and a firework finale that spelt out the school’s name in fire.

Students were also treated to a chocolate fountain, cup-cake towers and a candy buffet that all complemented the lilac and white theme.

Headteacher Dave Seddon said: “It was great to see so many smiling faces, everyone had a brilliant evening.”

Wolverley students made an entrance by lorry, limo, tractor, bus and scooter rally to their Oscars theme leavers prom.

Katie Fox and Chelsea Bridgwater arrived in tractors, Kiah Bridle, Tyler Maiden and Aran Hartland chose lorries, Mary Booker braved the back of a motorbike and Harley Brown aptly arriving on a Harley Davidson motorbike.

Nathan Ganley briefly turned the Safari Park into a scene from Quadrophenia when he arrived alongside the Nowhere to Run Scooter Club.

They were greeted by friends, family and stilt walkers and after a photo opportunity, the students were treated to a buffet and their own Oscars ceremony.

Students voted for the awards which ranged from best hair and make-up to visual effects for the clumsiest student. The top prizes of the night, prom king and queen, were awarded to Kennedy Digie and Hannah Cornish.

Students were then taken outside to witness the FlameOz fire show and then danced the night away while the Halo jugglers mingled with the crowd.
