LOUD fireworks and late-night music at a company party in Wolverley caused a stir across Wyre Forest with many residents disrupted but others enjoying the display.

The party for staff of TH Baker jewellers was held overnight on Sunday, with music going on until the early hours of the morning at Heathfield School, Wolverley Road.

Parents, pet-owners and workers living near to the site complained to The Shuttle about the music andvolumeof fireworks.

West Mercia Police attended the site at about 12.15am but officers said they did not have any issues.

A spokesman for TH Baker apologised “unreservedly” for any disturbance caused.

James Young, 29, of Brabham Close, had to get up for work as a baker at 3.30am on Monday morning.

“The music started upand I hardly got any sleep,” he said.

He added he felt a sense of déja vu, after residents were kept awake in October last year following the MAD Festival held at Court Farm, next to the Wolverley Road school.

Cassie Smith, who had been checking on horses at the farm earlier on Sunday evening, said she was concerned fireworks could have panicked the animals.

The Shuttle’s facebook page received more than 110 comments reacting to the party.

Jonathan Belcher wrote: “Woke my kids up. Was not very happy.”

Craig Addison added:“Not everyone had bank holiday off and music blaring out in the early hours isn’t on.”

Gaynor Scully, however, said: “I was deeply traumatised because I wasn’t invited.”

Heather Wastie added: “Fireworks enjoyed in Cookley. Couldn’t hear music.”

Claire Utting wrote: “I live top of Sion Hill, was so close to us, got a great view from upstairs windows.”

The TH Baker spokesman said staff from all over the UK had attended the event held to celebrate the company’s 125th anniversary.

He added: “Of course, we apologise unreservedly for any disturbance caused. It was never our intention to be a nuisance to anyone in the local community.”
