THE Alzheimer’s Society is appealing for Wyre Forest residents to lace up their walking boots for this year’s Memory Walk.

The Worcestershire Memory Walk will take place at the Riverside Gardens, in Stourport, on Saturday, September 19.

The walk will feature two routes – a 1km and a 3.5m route. The 1km route will be a stroll down the river and back, and also wheelchair friendly.

Whereas, the 3.5 mile route starts with a river walk, across to the canal and then up to Hartlebury Common.

On the day, Stourport Brass Band will entertain walkers; while there will also be a tombola and a homemade cake stall.

Emma Dowler, Alzheimer’s Society community fundraiser, said: “Arm in arm, step by step and pound by pound, people will be walking to raise money for services and vital research.”

Memory Walk is Alzheimer’s Society’s flagship fundraising event, which takes place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland this autumn.

The money raised will fund research into a cure for dementia, as well as provide services for people living with the disease.
