A CHARITY has issued an urgent appeal for large dog toys after stocks reached an all-time low.

The Dogs Trust Evesham rehoming centre in Wickhamford has around 15 larger breed dogs in their care – from American bulldogs to German Shepherds.

All the dogs have been left wondering where the toys have gone as their toy box is bare.

The team is now asking dog-lovers to donate big, tough, boredom-beating toys to keep the larger animals entertained in their kennels.

Chris Slight, Dogs Trust Evesham rehoming centre manager, said: "We look after dogs of all shapes and sizes, and get through a lot of toys. All dogs love to chew but the larger dogs need something that will last longer and really help to keep their brains busy when they are in their kennels.

"The dogs get so much enjoyment from toys and the large breeds particularly love things like hardwearing tug-toys, durable chewers and Kongs are perfect to help beat the boredom whilst they wait for their forever homes."

The centre would love large pre-loved or new toys to be donated, but they must be specifically for dogs.

If you think you can help, contact the team at Dogs Trust Evesham on 0300 303 0292 or visit the centre at 89 Pitchers Hill, Wickhamford, Evesham.

The centre is open every day except Wednesday. You can also purchase items from the centre’s Amazon Wish List.
