A NEW defibrillator could be a lifesaver in the community at Areley Kings Football Club.

The Stourport Road-based club recently had the life-saving defibrillator installed after they successfully applied for the equipment from the British Heart Foundation and the Football Association (FA).

Dee Carter, club youth secretary, said: "The committee has been looking at buying a defibrillator for some time, but the cost was prohibitive - so when the FA and British Heart Foundation offered them to Charter Standard Clubs, we applied straight away and are really pleased our application was successful."

Bill Preece, Areley Kings FC chairman, added: "The defibrillator is accessible during all training sessions and matches held at our ground and during the day when our facilities are used by the Harriers Academy.

"We currently have six club members trained to use the equipment, but are looking to roll out this training to all of our 10 youth team and three senior managers over the coming months."
