As children and college students return to school, these photos from the Museum of Carpet archives look back on the history of Kidderminster College.

The School of Science and Art was opened on Market Street in 1879.

In 1955, the building on Market Street housed the Kidderminster Museum and Art Gallery and the public library.

In 1955, 1965, and 1974, new buildings were opened on Hoo Road to provide for the growing student population, with the College offering renowned textiles courses.

However, with the carpet industry’s decline in the 1980’s, there was less need for additional buildings, and the college moved back to a newly developed building on the site on Market Street in 2003.
