STOURPORT Men rounded off their title-winning season in the Midlands Division One by beating Edgbaston 5-2.

Dan Hurley opened the scoring against the Birmingham-based side, who needed a draw to ensure survival.

Andy Cavendish bagged a second as Stourport pegged Edgbaston in their own half.

A third goal just after the interval from Phil Baldwin was the reward of some constant excellent approach play.

Edgbaston pulled a ball back but in the second half, Stourport restored their three-goal advantage when Simon Claris hit the back of the net.

Stourport’s opponents had their best spell of the game and then scored but more strikes by Dan Hurley and Cavendish made sure of the win.

Coach Kali Takher also played and praised his players for maintaining their high standards.

Plans are already underway for pre-season training this summer and friendlies that will see a much sterner test for the squad but for now the players ,coaches and management can all be well pleased with what has been achieved over the last nine months.

Meanwhile, the seconds went down 8-2 to Edgbaston and the fourths got the better of their Birmingham rivals 2-1.

The Ladies fifths defeated Bromsgrove thirds 2-1, while the sixths lost to Bromsgrove fourths by the same score.
