NEW Kidderminster Victoria skipper Matt Pardoe is relishing the chance to get his teeth into the season.

The Chester Road side start their 2015 campaign on when they go to Barnt Green on Saturday (noon start) in the first round of the Graham Williamson Trophy.

It will be Pardoe’s first competitive game as captain, after he replaced Jonathan Wright during the winter.

The new skipper said: “I have captained Worcestershire seconds for several games, but being skipper for the season is something I am looking forward to. It will be a learning experience.

"I am sure we will have some ups and downs, but I am excited about the season.

“The Graham Williamson Trophy is a great way to start the season, it means you start with competitive games and there’s something to play for.”

KVCC have confirmed the addition of all-rounder Nathan Round, who is a vastly experienced player in the Birmingham League having played for Stourbridge, Halesowen, Old Hill, Walsall and Himley.

Round also helped Walsall to championship titles and also won England caps at under-18s and 19s level.

He was also with Worcestershire between 2002 and 2004 – playing mainly 2nd XI cricket.

He has played Minor Counties cricket with Herefordshire, and also spent four seasons playing league cricket in Capetown South Africa.

His arrival softens the blow of losing Neil Pinner, who has re-signed for Leicestershire and can only play in the local league. Youngsters such as Jack Beadsworth, Charlie Stainforth and Henry are also expected to push for places.

Pardoe added: “Nathan knows the league well and will bring a lot of experience to a young side.”

KVCC go to Moseley on Sunday, April 19 for the first round of the Nat West T20, while they commence the Birmingham Premier at Brockhampton on April 25, followed by the National Knockout Cup clash at Bromyard the next day.
