STOURPORT ladies secured their first points of the season with a 3-1 win at Bristol Firebrandsin last weekend’s Investec Western Women National League match.

Stourport took the lead after only 15 minutes in the West Country, newcomer Kirsty Imm scoring her first ever National League goal from the top of the ‘D’.

Stourport extended their lead in the 23rd minute when experienced forward Hannah Goss exploited a quick free-hit outside the 25-metre line to rifle into the top righthand corner of the goal.

Firebrands halved the deficit on the stroke of half time when they responded with a counter-attack as Stourport took a 2-1 advantage into the half-time interval.

The second half saw much more distribution play between the two sides, as Firebrands went in search of an equaliser.

However, when the home side conceded a short corner in the 52nd minute, Sarah Cavendish wrapped the points up for the visitors with a skilful effort on the break.

Stourport ladies head south again this weekend with a trip to Gloucester in a match that gets under way at 6pm.
