KIDDERMINSTER perished at the hands of Barnt Green batsman Ed Pollock who plundered a wonderful 158 from just 85 balls in what proved one of the outstanding Birmingham League batting displays of the season.

Pollock, who has been in prolific form for Birmingham Bears in this season's NatWest T20 Blast, brought his batting prowess to Chester Road and bludgeoned no less than 11 fours and 14 sixes from his boundary laden knock.

He single-handedly took the game away from Kidderminster, who had earlier set a testing target of 292 for eight to chase down.

Runs flowed from the word go on a top class batting wicket as Matt Pardoe and Andy Kimberlin soon rattled up 74 runs by the 14th over before Kimberlin fell lbw to Jacques Banton for 37.

Pardoe was joined by skipper Neil Pinner and the pair put on 141 for the second wicket before their partnership halted dramatically in the 38th over.

Unlucky Pardoe was caught and bowled by Tom Brown for 99 while Pinner went for 71 the very next ball. By that stage the score had reached 216 for three.

From that point, Kidderminster again found themselves on the back foot as Connor Smith and James Kinder fell quickly leaving the score at 233 for five.

Charlie Stainforth struck a belated 28 as wickets fell around him, Brown finishing with six for 51 while Banton and Smith took the remaining wickets.

Kidderminster then enjoyed early success in their reply as two well taken catches from Pardoe removed openers Jamie Harrison and Tom Brown to leave Barnt Green on 35 for two.

But that was as good as it got for Kidderminster as Pollock then unleashed his assault on the bowling.

Together with fellow Warwickshire player Matt Lamb, the pair took the score to 234 for three in what proved an unstoppable partnership.

Lamb finally fell for 59 and then a well taken catch from James Kinder removed Australian James Psarakis for 15.

Pollock, by this stage, had piled up 158 and another of his big hits looked destined for six when Kinder leapt to take a brilliant catch right on the boundary edge, giving Pat Brown his fourth wicket to finish with figures of four for 79.

Life doesn't get any easier for Kidderminster who travel to defending champions Berkswell on Saturday before entertaining top of the table Knowle and Dorridge on Bank Holiday Monday, both games commencing at 12 noon.
