CAPTAIN Jonathan Wright is sure there will be no repeat of their opening day loss to Shrewsbury when Kidderminster Victoria take on the leaders in Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash.

Kidderminster can return to the summit of the Birmingham and District League Premier Division with a win over their rivals at their London Road home.

That the two sides are separated by 19 points at the halfway stage of the season is impressive, as KVCC suffered a nine-wicket home defeat at the hands of Shrewsbury in April.

“We were caught cold by Shrewsbury on the first day of the season,” admitted Wright.

“We weren’t quite as ready as we should have been but we have bounced back well and played some good cricket.

“But our record at Shrewsbury is pretty good and we’ll be aiming to go and win.”

KVCC are set for a boost as Worcestershire batsman Matt Pardoe is expected to have recovered from an injury sustained while playing for Worcestershire against Australia last week.

Marc Edwards and Richard Kimberlin are set to come into the team because Zac Turley and Connor Smith are away, while Ben Cox will not play as he is on Twenty20 duty with Worcestershire this weekend.

KVCC will also be aiming to bounce back from Saturday’s losing draw at home to Wolverhampton.

The hosts were chasing 195 for victory but the loss of late wickets stalled their efforts as they slumped to 183-8 and had to settle for a losing draw.

Wright added: “Our record against Wolverhampton is not the best and unfortunately we did not play at our best.”

The action in Shrewsbury starts at noon.
