COOKLEY produced their best bowling display of the season as they stunned Wyre Forest rivals Stourport in Worcestershire League Division Two.

Danny Soley (4-39) led the way as Stourport were dismissed for 106 and Cookley then replied with 107-4.

Despite the fine win, Cookley, who claimed 20 points, slipped to eighth in the table after Wormelow picked up a maximum 24 in their success over Coombs Wood, while Stourport slipped to third from bottom.

Stourport entertain Wormelow on Saturday, while Cookley take on Rushwick at home.

Winless Cookley’s seconds lost by eight wickets to Pedmore.

After winning the toss and opting to bat they were well-placed at 108-2 but then lost six wicktes for just 21 runs to eventually post a below par 171, despite runs for Lee Shewry (38) and Chris Parkes (39 all out).

Pedmore though cruised to 173-2 for a maximum point victory. Meanwhile, Stourport’s seconds drew with Oldswinford.

Batting first, Ian Delo continued his fine form with 65, which saw him surpass 500 runs for the season.

Andy Cavendish smashed a quick-fire 75 as Stourport were bowled out for 257.

In reply, Stourport took wickets at regular intervals but despite Andy Platt’s 4-35 they were unable to obtain the last two to take the victory as Oldswinford reached 194-8.

Stourport’s thirds lost to Barnt Green by three wickets.

They batted first and were dismissed for 220 with Dave Cook (43) and 73 from James Cook were the pick of the batsmen.

In reply, Tom Neath bowled with little luck returning figures of 4-67 but was unable to stop Barnt Green reaching 221-7 in in the 51st over.

Stourport’s fourths beat West Malvern by 162 runs thanks to a stunning display of spin bowling from 16-year-old Josh Harrison.

Fifty-seven from Andy Goddard and 36 not out from Jack Rogers helped Stourport to 220-5.

In reply, Malvern had no answer to Harrison who bowled 10 overs and claimed a phenomenal seven wickets for four runs as Malvern were skittled for 58.

Meanwhile, Stourport are holding their annual six-a-side day on Sunday at Walshes Meadow.
