Telford 1, Harriers 2

FIRST half goals for Anthony Malbon and Lee Fowler ensured Harriers recorded their third friendly win pre-season at New Bucks Head on Tuesday night.

The Carpetmen were forced to work hard by an industrious Telford side but the Conference Premier showed glimpsed of their superiority to seal the victory.

Harriers fielded a team full of first team players and they produced two moments of quality which undid scrappy Telford.

The match had started in blistering fashion.

Midfield maestro Fowler tested keeper Ryan Young with a firm low effort inside the first 60 seconds.

Telford roared back and Adam Farrell saw a close range downward header and shot saved by alert keeper Vaughan, who was chosen ahead off first choice custodian Danny Lewis.

Telford, who were relegated to the Confernce North last season, we're trying to match the away team's quality with extra effort but Kidderminster opened the scoring with a well-crafted effort in the 15th minute.

Former Shrewsbury man Jamie Tolley found Nathan Bissett with a fine pass and the big striker controlled the ball with one touch and slipped it to Malbon, who beat surprised keeper Ryan Young with a first time effort.

The Bucks upped their game and Vaughan pulled off a fine save to get to Matt McGinn's rasping 20-yard effort.

But the keeper was left red faced when he completely missed Andy Owens' hanging long throw-in and the ball cannoned off a combination of Mike Phenix and Farrell, who were both in close proximity of Harriers' keeper.

McGinn was denied a stunning goal to put the Bucks ahead when his thundering effort crashed off the underside of the bar and bounced out.

Harriers then edged ahead in the 41st minute, with Fowler flashing a fine effort past young from the edge of the box.

Both teams made a slew of substitutions after the break and the game lost its way with neither side able to create many chances or find their passing rhythm.

Young winger Dior Angus and Ryan Rowe had efforts saved by the Telford keeper, while at the other end of the pitch a late arriving Farrell could not make contact with Owens' pacey low delivery.
