KAREN McKay won a bronze medal for the second year in a row at the National Clout Championships in Bradford.

The Wyre Forest Company of Archers member recorded 191 points in the recurve section to repeat last years’ success.

Hosted by Bowbrook Archers, the Shropshire Clout Championship was held a bit closer to home in Newport.

The weather proved to be a bit of a challenge with strong winds and rain throughout the day.

Despite the testing conditions, the club went on to finish the double two-way GNAS clout round where they won gold medals in the open junior lady under-14s barebow (80 yards) and open lady recurve (140 yards) categories.

WFCA members also attended the Bowmen of Lytchett Clout weekend held near Poole in Dorset for a two-day competition.

Stourport High School pupil Jasmine Simpson, won the under-14s barebow category on both days while her mum, McKay, added to the collection with a silver medal on Saturday and gold medal and trophy on Sunday, along with breaking her own county record for the single clout round.
