Shaun outfoxes opposition

ACCOMPLISHDED rider Shaun Fox produced a perfect performance at Bewdley Motorcycle Club’s annual Boxing Day Trial.
Forty five competitors found a course that was both challenging and enjoyable, but far from being deep in mud and water.
Wilden resident Fox (Gas Gas), found the going much to his liking and dropped no marks at all over the four laps of a 10 section course.
But it was a close encounter between Fox and runner-up Steve Clift, who also rides for the Gas Gas team.
Only a lapse of concentration on Clift’s second visit to the first section resulted in him losing a top spot tie.
Bewdley road racer Richard Evans (Gas Gas), was having a rare trials outing and finished in a creditable third position.
There was more close completion in the intermediate class between Danny Pugh (Beta) and Kidderminster’s James Pickering (Drayton BSA), with the former holding his nerve to triumph.
Pugh had a nervous start to the event and cast away two marks on his first lap to the single mark of Pickering.
But he lost only an additional two marks, whereas Pickering just missed out on top spot by adding a further four marks towards the end of the trial.
The Clubman class provided a comfortable win for the former DMW works rider Mick Parks (BSA), who finished on just four marks, some eight better than runner-up Ray Collins riding another BSA.
Special mention must go to the schoolboy and Bewdley MCC member Joel Tett.
Riding his Beta in the intermediate class, young Tett claimed third spot on the podium.
