BILL Bell led the way for Wyre Forest Company of Archers at the club’s Winter Indoor Portsmouth tournament in Stourport.

The event featured recurve, compound, long bow and bare bow disciplines, with 115 competitors from all over the Midlands in action.

Archers had to shoot five dozen arrows at a 60 centimetre target face at a distance of 20 yards.

Bell was Wyre Forest’s top scorer, recording 578 points to secure second place in the gents compound.

Lindsey Brazier was runner-up in the Ladies compound, just one point behind Jacqui Williams of Evesham AC.

Junior Gents under-12s recurve bowman Harrison Edwards also finished second, but Freya Palmer and Jasmine Simpson went a step further to win the under-12s and under-14s recurve competitions respectively.

Although scoring more points than last year, the host sclub had to settle for second place in the team stands. trophy competition losing to Evesham AC by 7 points.
