WYRE Forest Phoenix Ladies progressed into the next round of the West Midlands Regional Women’s League Cup with a 6-3 win over Kenilworth Wardens.

This fixture was meant to be played at Kenilworth but was reversed to Kidderminster when the pitch was deemed to be unfit to play on.

Forest were looking to avenge a defeat from earlier in the season and made the perfect start with three goals in the first 10 minutes.

Vicky Hyde opened the scoring with a header after good work by Bex Meredith. Two goals in as many minutes from Kirsty Jones saw Phoenix power into a 3-0 lead.

Chelsea Mudge bagged a fourth minutes later and despite Kenilworth pulling one back, Molly Maguire scored a fifth for Forest.

Bex Meredith got on the score sheet when her long throw into the box was pushed into the net by the visiting keeper to give healthy 6-1 lead going into the break. While the away side pulled back two long range efforts.
