THE hockey season ended with Stourport Ladies sixths beating Kings Heath seconds 1-0.
Although this was supposed to be an away fixture, with the agreement of their opposition, Kings Heath 2nd’s, this rearranged Worcestershire Division Three fixture was played at The Kingsway.
Kings Heath had the better chances in the opening exchanges with keeper Gemma Taylor –Robinson making a number of important saves to ensure the scores remained level.
Stourport came back into the match with some testing crosses from Chris Corcoran.
The best chance of the half fell to Heath just as the half-time whistle was blown.
The visitors was awarded a short corner but Sara Jennings made a vital block to divert a goal bound effort.
Haxel Claris forced the winner early in the second half and Corcoran nearly added a second.
The sixths finished the season fifth with eight wins and ten losses.
The firsts enjoyed their highest ever finish in the National Conference North with fourth.
There was a fifth place finish for the seconds in Midlands Division Two.
The thirds ended ninth in Worcestershire Division One, the fourths third in Division Two and the fifths completed Division Three fourth.
