CYCLING: Andy Overton was Wyre Forest CRC’s highest placed finisher in the Beacon RCC promoted 39 mile hilly time trial.

Overton was 15th with a time of one hour and 51 minutes, quickly followed by Andy Convery in 18th with 1-52-30 ,then Dave Meacham 23rd in 1-53-57 and Paul Darby 30th in 1-56-22.

Although finding the hills tough Gary Jones, Paul Gibson and Brad Bradley battled to the end finishing in 52nd, 55th and 58th places respectively.

Justin Walters was forced to retire at half distance with a puncture.

Prior to this event with the first two midweek time trials cancelled due to traffic lights and then flooded roads Wyre Forest riders had to find other races to contest.

In the Worcester St Johns CC promoted 2up 10 miles time trial, Walters teamed up with Jez Pile to finish second in 21-35 just two seconds behind winners Mark Corbett and Rob Nicholls with club mates Overton and Meacham finishing third with a time of 21-41.

Lucy Walters partnered Rachel Vann to post the respectable time of 25-47.

Justin Walters followed up with a win in the VC Sevale promoted 10 miles midweek time trial finishing with a time of 22-40.

He was followed home by Meacham in fourth with 23-58 one place and one second better than Overton.

Next came Andrew Preece (eighth, 24-21), Brad Bradley (17th in 26-53) and Lucy Walters (18th in 26-54).

Two junior members of the club were in action at the latest round of the West Midlands Youth circuit races at Victoria Park in Leamington Spa with William Pedersen showing he has recovered from a recent illness by placing fifth in a sprint finish in the Under-14s category while Holly Leat finished eighth in the Under-8s category.
