STOURPORT Swifts booked their place in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win over Lye Town.
Goals for Lewis Pountney and Ashley Parsons-Smith earned the Walshes Meadow side £1,500 in prize money.
Swifts will now go to Wellington in the next round on Saturday, August 30.
Manager Rod Brown said: “That was the best we had played this season, we were in complete control and I think Lye’s first shot came in the 88th minute.
“I look at us and we’ve got a good mix of youth and experience. Getting Michael Briscoe, Kevin Spencer, Karl Fellows and Gary Walker on board compliments the young guys that have developed. The squad feels like it has been here for several years.”
Swifts, who are fourth in the Midland Football Premier, resume the bread and butter of league football with two games over this week’s Bank Holiday weekend.
They go to struggling Shepshed Dynamo on Saturday and entertain Walsall Wood on Monday (both games 3pm kick-offs).
Brown added: “The league is a lot better quality than people realise and on their day, anyone can beat anyone.”
