Camp Hill 46, Kidderminster Carolians 15

KIDDERMINSTER Carolians suffered a bad day at the of - fice as they suffered their heaviest defeat of the season in Midlands Division Two West (South).

KCs were overpowered by the Birmingham-based home side’s forward line.

Carolians, missing injured key duo Chris Pinner and George Morgan. actually started well and took a 7-0 lead after only two min - utes when Rhys Pritchard touched down and Sam Tay - lor converted.

Camp Hill levelled when player-coach centre Stephen Halbert touched down under the posts for a converted ef - fort.

Under pressure, KCs struggled at set pieces and Harry Cunningham got his hands on the ball to score the try and put the hosts ahead 12-7.

Mark Newton added Camp Hill’s third touchdown and Kidderminster replied with a penalty as they went into half time trailing 17-10.

But Camp Hill powered into a 29-10 lead after scoring two more tries after the interval.

Things got worse when Ryan Large plunged over before Austin Bolger also forced his way over and Edwards’ conversion took the lead to 41-10.

Sustained pressure by Tom Maher and Alex Baldwin saw Kidderminster’s Josh Winfield pull an unconverted consolation try.

Camp Hill had the last laugh with another score to com - plete a tough day for KCs.

Director of rugby Phil Knowles said: “Camp Hill’s forward line was very good and struggled at set pieces.

We lost the first four lineouts which is never a good sign.

“It was a bad day at the office but there were one or two positives.”

KCs have a free weekend be - cause they have a bye in the North Midlands Shield. But their next game is at home to Handsworth on October 24.

Meanwhile, the unbeaten Colts take on Broadstreet away on Saturday in the North Midlands Colts Shield (3pm kick-off).

Knowles added: “The Colts set-up is very good.”
