STOURPORT and Cookley experienced derby frustration as their all Wyre Forest clash in Worcestershire League Division One was abandoned because of rain.

Hosts Cookley were inserted and Stourport limited them to 178-9 from their 50 overs.

Ryan Derrick impressed, taking five wickets on his debut and captain Craig Siwicki chipped in with three scalps.

Cookley were inconsistent with the bat and Paul Thomas and Jaimen Rudd top scored with 35 each.

Unfortunately the rain came down at several intervals meaning the game was abandoned. Bonus points were awarded for both teams.

On Saturday Stourport entertain Hagley at home while Cookley visit Worcester (both matches 1pm start).

Mitch Taylor carried on from last season with his highest ever score for Cookley of 140 not out as the seconds drew with Rushwick. He was supported by Dan Southam who made 43 and took 3-36.

There was some explosive batting from 16-year-old Charlie Barton with 36 not out from just 14 balls in the 263-4.

In reply Rushwick achieved a higher share of the points with a better run rate.

In Division Seven, Cookley are joint top after a maximum home points win against Harborne. The Villagers were all out for just 130 with James Brown (52) and chairman Phil Dixon with a patient 36.

In reply, Si Kirby (3-3), Brian Davies (2-20) and youngster Tom Mayall (2-13) were too good for Harborne bowling them out for just 80.
