KIDDERMINSTER CC’s Chris Longmore is celebrating after being named groundsman of the year by the Birmingham League.

Longmore received his trophy from president Peter Radburn.

In his third season, Chris followed last year’s high marks with the reward he richly deserves.

The variable weather has hindered his pre-season work, but so far he has produced some good wickets, especially the one for Worcestershire’s 2nd XI game against Sussex this week.

The three-day match was interrupted so much that 59 of the scheduled 304 overs were lost.

However, 1,008 runs were scored by the two teams, indicating Longmore’s skill as a groundsman.
