A TRY for Emma Cound ensured Cleobury Mortimer LAdies RFC made it three wins out of four in the West Midlands League Division Two by seeing off Bridgnorth 7-5.

Cleobury showed how far they have progressed since joining the league by edging out Bridgnorth, who were the first team they ever played in this competition.

After a tight first half, where neither team could make the breakthrough, Cleobury captain Laura Romeo started the move that resulted in a try, when she stole the ball away from Bridgnorth.

Scrum-half Ginnie Romeo found flanker Cound, who out sprinted Bridgnorth's defence and ran half the pitch to touch down for a try, which was converted by Sarita Smith.

Cleobury's opponents upped the pressure and grabbed a try of their own, but dogged defending sealed victory in front of a large crowd.

After victories over Shrewsbury, Tewkesbury and Bridgnorth the ladies go into Saturday's clash away at leaders Worcester seconds full of confidence.
