KC playing down the slope with the wind behind them looked impressive from the start away at Spartans, obviously keen to reverse the result from the game earlier in the season.

The score was opened when Jim Tildesley made a great break, being stopped just short of the line; however, he gave a short pass to Tom Dalton who was in close support and able to make the score. Jack O’Hagan converting.

More KC pressure told as a move between the backs started by Jack O’Hagan was taken on by Tom Kerrigan for George Lloyd-Jones to finally score, O’Hagan with the conversion.  It was all KC at this point with Spartans on the back foot. The next score was a lovely solo effort from Jim Tildesley, whose side-stepping run beat many defenders and took him from the Spartans 10 metre line to score under the posts, O’Hagan making the conversion. KC now had a 21 point lead after only 15 minutes, the Spartans supporters were puzzled as to how they had won easily in the corresponding fixture at Kidderminster.

A further penalty kick from Jack O’Hagan was successful. Then Spartans got themselves on the scoresheet with a well taken try, spotting a gap in the KC defence to score on their right wing. Spartans looked dangerous as they tried to make further incursions through the KC line. However the KC defence was solid with both forwards and backs making good tackles, Jack Barratt, Ryan Wainwright, Jim Tildesley and Jack O’Hagan being conspicuous.

The KC team were good at supporting each other as shown with their next try, started by McLellan, taken on by Tom Dalton, passed to George Lloyd-Jones, back to McLellan for Ryan Wainwright to score wide out. The first half ended with a Spartans unconverted try as KC concentration lapsed.

KC were able to show their control by winning several good turnovers and were successful when feeding the dangerous Ryan Tiene. Ryan had been stopped on several earlier occasions and this time was able to cross after a 50 metre gallop, the conversion failed. Further pressure by Spartans close to the KC line was reversed, KC getting the turnover and the ball was again fed to Ryan Tiene who, after a quick break, was able to outpace the defence with another trade mark 80 metre gallop, Tom Dalton converting.

KC had their seventh try involving several players; it was initiated by Andy McLellan, fed through Hakeem Hussain, Tom Kerrigan and George Lloyd-Jones for Ryan Wainwright to collect the try as a reward for his energetic contributions. The try was converted by Tom Dalton

This was one of the best team performances of the season to win 15-48, players showing great support in attack and able to contain the Spartan’s dangerous backs.
