THE men's 4th XI lost 2-6 when they entertained West Bromwich 2nd XI in the Midlands South West 7 Division.

In this clash between fourth and third-placed sides, a new-look Stourport 4th team produced some good link-up play with the youngsters stepping up to the mark.

West Bromwich though were well organised and decisive at their short corners and played very well throughout the match.

Despite the score line, Stourport still managed some outstanding play and scored into the top right corner of the net.

However, the effort wasn't enough to gain the points as West Bromwich already with a 1-3 lead at the break went on to secure the three points by winning 2-6.

In their second match of the week, the men’s 5th XI travelled to Bournville 4th's and came away with a 4-1 victory in this clash between second and third placed, in the Men's Midland Division 9 South West league.

Stourport's first-half performance was the best it's been all season as they went ahead as early as the eighth minute and extended their lead to two in the fifteenth minute with a brace from Steve Jones.

A further goal in the twentieth minute, by Stourport's player of the match John Kane who not only assisted for two goals but also scored two himself, gave Stourport a 3-0 lead at the break.

It wasn't all plain sailing for Stourport though, and if it had not been for Martin Roberts in the visitor's goal, who organised the Stourport defence and denied Bournville with two outstanding saves the home team could've found a way back into the match.

Despite this and a goal-line clearance by Steve Li, Bournville did pull a goal back, only for Stourport to score a fourth goal through Kane in the fifty-fiftieth minute, and after the 5th's 0-0 draw against Worcester, Where Roberts, in the Stourport goal, made some outstanding saves, which leaves the Wyre Forest side in second place four points above Bournville in third.

The men's 6th XI remain five points off the top of the Midlands Men's Division 10 South West Division, after their 7-0 victory over their visitors Old Wulfernians 4th XI.

Stourport began 2024 in emphatic style enjoying a goal feast in their first match of the New Year.

Captain and centre-half Allan Moss prompted the early pressure, leading to an avalanche of goals in the first half.

Old Wulfernians refused to be daunted by the half-time score, showing real spirit by defending doggedly in the second half and refusing Stourport to build on their goal tally.

The ladies' 3rd XI beat top of the table Bromsgrove2nd XI when they entertained them in the Women's Midlands Division 3 South West.

A brace of goals by Fran Moss, and single goals by Jodi Edwards and Katie Miller-Symonds sealed the three points.
