STOURPORT Hockey Club men's fifths romped to a Worcestershire derby win over Droitwich thirds.

The town hosts won 8-1 after only leading 1-0 at half-time.

In Midlands Nine South West, John Kane scored with an unstoppable short corner in the 15th minute for a first-half lead.

March Darch scored the first of his brace in the 36th minute and Steve Jones bagged two in five minutes.

Darch again and a four-minute brace by Kazim Abbas put the match beyond Droitwich.

The visitors pulled a goal back but Stourport's player of the match Kane, who assisted for four of the goals, scored his second with two minutes remaining.

The sixths extended their unbeaten run in Midlands 10 South West with a 4-3 victory over hosts Barford Tigers fifths.

A youth player hit the first for Stourport on his player-of-the-match debut and Kyle Gayne made it two only for Barford to level by the break.

The hosts went ahead for the first time in the second period but captain Allan Moss equalised from a penalty corner.

With four minutes to go, Stourport scored the winner through David Bedford.

The women's seconds are a point behind third-placed Towcester firsts in Midlands One after they beat visitors Leicester seconds 8-0.

Kerry Walker scored twice along with a double from Amy Miller, including a penalty stroke, and other efforts from youth players.

The thirds fought back from 1-0 down in Midlands Three South West at Old Sills to draw 1-1 thanks to Fran Moss' goal from a penalty corner.
