STOURPORT consolidated their mid-table position in the Men's Conference West with a 6-3 victory over bottom side Whitchurch on Saturday.

The win was enough to strengthen their grip on sixth place in the league and also widen the gap over the bottom teams to five points.

Impressively, Stourport had five players on the score sheet against the division's struggling side.

Whitchurch opened the scoring through Rhys Thomas but Chris Hill and Phil Lashford struck from open play to hand the hosts a 2-1 lead.

Stourport were caught out again when the visitors made it 2-2 in the 27th minute.

Captain Mark Moss though handed his side the lead when he scored from a penalty scorner.

Lashford bagged his second of the game moments later to break Whitchurch's fighting spirit.

Luke Edwards and Imran Yousaf made sure of the victory with two more strikes, before Whitcurch bagged a late reply.

Stourport face a tough test on Sunday when they go to second placed University of Exeter.

Kidderminster men lost 9-0 at Warwick in the West Midlands Premier Division.

In the Midlands Division One, Stourport ladies kept their excellent run of form going with a 2-1 win over Solihull and Blossomfield.

In one of their toughest games of the season, Melissa Kennedy fired the ladies into the lead at Kingsway.

Gemma Brookes was enjoying a fine debut in goal and was shielded by Stourport's solid defence.

Stourport made it 2-0 when Heidi Devey flicked the ball beyond the helpless keeper.

The second half saw the hosts battled hard and only a post denied Kennedy her second goal.

Kidderminster were no match for Stourport's second team, as they went down 5-0 in the Worcestershire League.

Caroline Sidell, Sarah Kay, Lucy Mattocks, Kim Watkins and Suzanne Symonds scored for Stourport.

Kidderminster keeper Julie Rowe produced a string of saves to keep the score down.

Stourport's third team got the better of Redditch seconds 8-0, with Claudia Wells (4), Chey West, Katie Spencer (2) and Jen Peniket on target.

The fourths team went down 10-0 to Badsey at home.

Stourport's Badgers side got the better of Droitwich, with Ben Corcoran bagging a hat-trick.
