MANAGER Mark Yates believes Harriers are close to turning good away performances into points ahead of Saturday's clash at high-flying AFC Wimbledon (3pm kick-off).

The Aggborough outfit have only taken two points from the last three away games despite some fine displays.

Late goals cost them wins at Histon and Forest Green Rovers, while they were left ruing Gavin Caines' early sending in the 3-2 loss at York.

Despite those slips, Harriers have lost just once in the last six Blue Square Premier matches and go to the intimidating atmosphere at Wimbledon on the back of a 2-0 win over Wrexham.

"Our performances have been good away from home in recent weeks, but we need to start turning those into results," commented the manager.

"I think that if we stick to what we are good at then there is a big away win around the corner.

"Wimbledon are going to be tough, they have a good manager and are carrying on from last season, but we'll be focusing on what we can do and not on them.

"We should be higher up the table, because away from home we should have more points than we've actually earned."

With Saturday's opponents averaging over 3,000 strong crowds at home, the Worcestershire side are set for a hostile atmosphere.

However, Yates believes his players will be relishing the chance to play in front of a big crowd.

He said: "It's a big game and there's going to be a great atmosphere because of the crowd.

"I think my players are relishing the challenge of playing there.

"We won't be fazed by the big crowds, in fact I have been looking forwards to this game.

"We've played very well in patches over the last six or seven games and now we must really build on what we've done so far."

With David McDermott recovering from the injury sustained against Wrexham, Dean Bennett could come into the side after a two-match absence.

However, with centrehalf Gavin Caines back after his one-match suspension, Chris McPhee could also be restored in midfield after a brief stint in defence.
