BEWDLEY Rowing club's ladies veterans E quartet provided the main highlight at Ross Regatta by winning their section.

The foursome of Lynne Beech, Lel Bowkett, Elaine Collier and Yvonne Ogylvie-Hardy and cox Zoanne Lazenby enjoyed a comfortable win against Pengwern before being joined by Mik Edmonds, John Fazakerly, Ed Mol and Paul Warnett to claim a second win.

Another Bewdley ladies crew saw off Liverpool Victoria by half the length of the entire course.

The women’s intermediate two coxed four of Sarah Bastida, Kat Carlyle, Harry Dixon-Gough, Helen Downer and cox Felicity Gunn claimed their pots after a one-and-a-half length win over Burton Leander.

Laura Ray, Jennie Merchant. James Martyn-Smith and Ashley Pain won the mixed fours and saw off clubmates from Bewdley in the final.

Meanwhile, the men’s crew, dressed up as women, won the regatta’s traditional opening dragon boat race.

At the Gloucester Veteran and Junior Regatta, Bewdley youngsters competed well. The junior 16 coxless quad proved again they have the better of Upper Thames Rowing Club by beating them in the final to win the event.

The girls Junior 13 coxed four also defeated strong opposition from Upper Thames, Staines and Gloucester to win their event.

With the summer season completed, rowers will now concentrate on training and the gruelling head of the river tournaments.
