CENTRE back Michael Briscoe admitted he was devastated as Harriers' recent excellent defensive record was ended in Saturday's FA Trophy to Wrexham.

The Aggborough outfit was sunk by two first half goals at the Racecourse Ground, the first time in over a month they have let more than one in.

Harriers had only conceded one goal in the last four matches but that record had been hit hard when they conceded Wrexham's opener from their own corner.

"We conceded one goal in five games and then concede two in one game is devastating for us," commented the defender.

"Hopefully we'll bounce back against Kettering and get the win.

"We work hard on set pieces every day in training and to concede any goal is devastating but to concede a goal from our corner is gutting really.

"When you go 2-0 down it's a mountain to climb but we had opportunities to score, if the one-on-one had gone in it would have lifted us.

"We didn't perform as a team, there were gaps everywhere, we've got to put it right on Saturday and carry on our good run in the league."

Defeat in the Trophy means Harriers have no cup action to look forward to as they are also out of of the FA and Worcestershire Senior Cups.

Briscoe said: "You go into a league game and want to win, you go into a cup game and want to win, to be out of all the cup competitions is a devastating blow but gives us more time to concentrate on the league."
