PARISH GAMES: Stourport passed the final test to be crowned the champions of the Wyre Parish Games.

Second-place in the final round, a quiz held at Stourport Sports Club, was enough to ensure their place at the top of the leaderboard.

Chaddesely Corbett ended the season on a high to top the quiz round, followed by Stourport-on Severn, Churchill and Blakedown, Upper Arley, Rock, Wolverley and Cookley and Bewdley.

Once the quiz had finished, chairman of Wyre Forest District Council, cllr Stephen Clee presented trophies and winning certificates to winners of all the seven events.

He also handed out certificates to all the parishes that participated and finally presented a shield to Stourport, who had successfully defended their title, with a cheque for £100.

The overall games were a huge success with over 300 people attending this year.

Overall positions for Parish Games 2011: 1 Stourport On Severn 43 points; 2 Wolverley and Cookley 38; 3 Upper Arley 34; 4 Chaddesley Corbett 29; 5 Churchill and Blakedown 28; 6 Rock 24; 7 Bewdley 23.

Everyone who took park, including the co-ordinators, were thanked for doing a good job.

A meeting for next year's Games will be held in September.
