MEMBERS of Triathlon Kidderminster and Stourport Triathlon Club (TRiKS) put on an impressive display, with Jacqui Phillips being crowned British Champion in her age group.

Phillips took gold at the National Sprint Triathlon in the 40 to 44 age section in Lincolnshire.

Competitors had to tackle a 750 metre swim, 25 kilometre bike ride and 5km run, with Phillips completing the gruelling challenge in one hour, 16 minutes and three seconds.

Success qualified her for the European Championships in 2012, which will be held in Israel.

Later this month, Phillips will compete in this year’s European Championships in Spain.

Also competing was Charlotte Wharton, who had to battle hard in her age group (20-24) to finish 17th in 1-23-07, while Caroline Cresswell competed very well in her age group (45-49) to finish 11th in 1-27-15.

At the Gloucester Sprint Triathlon (400m pool swim, 26km bike, 6km run), Jason Dimmock was first home for the club in 34th position with a quick bike ride in 1-23-25.

Next was Emma Hornby who was sixth lady and 45th overall in 1-25-15, followed by Paul Bailey (61st, 1-27-36), Steve Moore (63rd, 1-27-9) and debutant Amy Waring (145th, 1-46-35).

Rob Reynolds and Kieron Dimmock also took part but unfortunately didn’t register in the final results due to problems during the bike section.
