KIDDERMINSTER Harriers midfielder James Vincent has been linked with a potential dream switch to Scottish Premier League side Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Reports in Scotland have stated the 23-year-old is in talks with Caley boss Terry Butcher about a possible move.

Vincent was one of the Aggborough outfit’s most consistent performers as they finished second in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

He appeared 41 times for the club last season, which triggered a clause in his contract to offer him a new deal.

But Vincent has yet to sign up, alerting the Highlanders to his availability.

If the former Stockport County midfielder was to secure a transfer to the Scottish Premier League, Harriers would be able to thrash out compensation for him with Inverness under the Bosman Ruling.

Chairman Mark Serrell said he was in the dark about Vincent’s possible move north of the border but admitted if it was true, the club would be powerless to prevent him from leaving.

He said: “I have to admit I don’t know anything about James’ link with Inverness.

“We offered James a new deal and were hoping to sort something out but if it’s true that they are interested in him then we could lose him.

“When a club from the Scottish Premier League shows an interest it is too good an offer to ignore.

“It shows once again that Harriers are a breeding ground for talented young players.”

Serrell is set to sit down and discuss plans for next season with manager Steve Burr today, including transfer targets, the remaining players they would like to re-sign and the budget available.

Harriers have 14 of last season’s squad already secured for the 2013-14 campaign in the Conference Premier.

The chairman also confirmed the club have offered out of contract winger Marvin Johnson a new deal, which he is currently thinking over.

“We’ve offered Marvin something and he’s gone away to think about it,” said Serrell.

“To be fair to us we have a budget and we’re not prepared to go beyond it.”

Meanwhile, Harriers have announced a friendly game at Northern Premier League outfit Rushall Olympic on Saturday, August 3 (3pm ko).
