KIDDERMINSTER Harriers go into a testing run of three matches in seven days with some momentum, believes manager Steve Burr.

The Aggborough are on a high after Tuesday night’s 3-0 win at Tamworth, as they made it three victories in a row.

That was enough to lift Burr’s troops into third in the Skrill Premier with 18 points from nine games, 14 more at the same stage last season.

Kidderminster kick-off a testing run of games at struggling Dartford on Saturday (3pm ko) before welcoming in-form newly-promoted sided Halfax on Tuesday (7.45pm ko), who are sixth in the table.

That is quickly followed-up by the visit of Aldershot to Aggborough next Friday (7.45pm ko), for Harriers’ first match to be televised on BT Sport.

The Shots started the season with minus 10 points after going into administration but have already earned 14 from their first nine matches to get into positive figures.

“We haven’t been at our best but I think it's the sign of a good side that when you’re not at your best you can still grind the results out,” said Burr.

“The Tamworth win was a bit more of how I expect us to be and it was very enjoyable watching the lads express themselves from the dug out.

“Some of the one-touch football was the best I have seen for a while.”

The manager also saved special praise for defender Jamie Grimes who was drafted in for his debut at short notice after Josh Gowling pulled out because of a swollen knee.

The 22-year-old has been with the club since the end of last season but has had to wait for his chance.

The manager added: “Jamie Grimes was fantastic, for him to come into a game like this on the back of not playing was brilliant.

“This is what I preach to the lads waiting for their chance. He’s taken it with two hands and I can't be more pleased for him.

“Josh is a big player for us, we didn’t know he wasn’t going to be right until we got to Tamworth but he wasn’t feeling right.

“It was probably a good thing for Jamie that he went straight in, he’s a young lad and he will get better and better for us."

It is hoped the swelling on Gowling’s knee will go down in time for Saturday’s trip to Kent. Kyle Storer also is expected to be okay after being taken off on Tuesday as a precaution.

n Fans who pay to get into Tuesday’s Halifax clash will be given a voucher entitling them to £5 off Friday’s Aldershot game.
