MANAGER Steve Burr believes out-of-form Wrexham will pose a severe test of Kidderminster Harriers’ promotion credentials in the Skrill Premier.

The Aggborough tackle a wounded Dragons outfit on Saturday (3pm ko) who have struggled to recover from last season’s play-off final defeat to Newport.

Harriers know all about disappointment in the play-offs, after losing to Wrexham in the two-legged semi-finals 5-2 on aggregate.

But Burr insists this weekend’s game is not about avenging their exit.

He said: “We’re not looking for revenge against Wrexham for the play-offs, we just want to go out and win every game.

“Wrexham have been very close to winning promotion over the last four seasons but for whatever reason they’ve had a bit of a dip so far this year. That could be a hangover from losing the play-off final or for other reasons.”

Kidderminster dropped to third in the table after Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Macclesfield and they have a number of injury worries ahead of this weekend’s match.

Callum Gittings is a doubt after limping off with a suspected knee or hamstring injury in midweek, which will be assessed in training.

Michael Gash has hurt his knee, while Lee Vaughan has a gash on his shin.

They are already without Jack Byrne (hamstring), while winger Dior Angus has been sent on-loan to Harriers’ ground sharing county neighbours Worcester City.

On a positive note, striker Amari Morgan-Smith saw his efforts rewarded as he signed a deal until the end of the season.

The striker joined the club in August on a short term arrangement but after proving his fitness he has became a regular member of the first team.

Former Yeovil centre back Aaron Brown has also received international clearance and can play for the Reds.

Brown, who has joined on a non-contract basis, has been training with the club for a month after featuring for League of Ireland side Limerick.

With Harriers’ squad affected by injuries, Burr admitted he had earmarked a player he wants to bring in but remained tight lipped about his identity.

Meanwhile, Kidderminster’s reward for defeating Skrill South Sutton United 4-1 in the FA Cup on Saturday is a second round clash at home to either Braintree or Newport on Saturday, December 7.

The two sides drew 1-1 at the weekend, with the replay set for next Tuesday night.

Burr added: “Before the draw people were talking about getting Wolves or Sheffield United but I was pleased to be at home.

“Braintree or Newport will be a tough game but we’ve got a chance of going through to the third round.”

On-loan Harriers striker Ryan Rowe maintained his love affair with the competition, scoring twice as Stourbridge beat Biggleswade 4-1 to progress.
